Offering a “California-cool” take on hotel design and hospitality, the new Proper Hotel Santa Monica epitomizes the laid-back LA lifestyle of living on the West Coast.

Designed by Howard Laks Architects in conjunction with interiors by Kelly Wearstler, has resulted in a sandy, neutral palette mixing and matching eclectic furniture and art to create a relaxed yet sophisticated boutique hotel. Located on 7th and Wilshire, the 271-room property is spread across 2-separate wings; one a newly built contemporary structure, the other a former 1920’s retro professional building. Rooms in the latter have Spanish-revival built-ins and a throwback feature of floral prints and peach accents.

Located just a stone-throw from the beach and iconic Santa Monica Farmers market, Head Chef Kaleo Adams takes pride in regularly highlighting local fresh produce seen in dishes at the lobby lounge, Palma as well as upstairs at the rooftop restaurant Calabra.  A crowd favourite of the effortlessly chic hotel is the signature Mediterranean breakfast platter featuring homemade hummus, labneh feta, herbed salad, and soft-boiled eggs, served with freshly grilled laffa.
